Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description DTC (Distributed Transaction Coordinator) is a system service that coordinates transactions. A vulnerability was detected in the DTC service for several Microsoft Windows operating systems that can allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted DTC packet.

Protection Overview

By enabling the protection, IPS will block the specific vulnerable operation in DTC MS-RPC interface over Common Internet File Sharing (CIFS) protocol.The detect mode makes it possible to track unauthorized access attempts without blocking them.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R65 / R70 / R71 / R75 / R77 / R80

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator Memory Corruption (MS05-051) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
