Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Internet Explorer is the most widely used Internet browser. The WebViewFolderIcon object is an ActiveX control that comes with Microsoft Windows. Provided by the file webvw.dll, this control provides support functionality for icons in the Windows Explorer Web view. A vulnerability in WebViewFolderIcon (webvw.dll) could lead to a integer overflow and result in remote code execution. |
This protection will block the vulnerable COM object and the webvw.dll file.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
