Vulnerability Description | Microsoft HTML Help is the help system for Microsoft Windows platform. HTML Help ActiveX control is an application used for help navigation.A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft HTML Help ActiveX control (Hhctrl.ocx). The vulnerability is due to a buffer overflow error in the HTML Help ActiveX control (Hhctrl.ocx). The application fails to properly handle malformed arguments. To trigger this flaw, an attacker can specially craft a malicious Web page that initiates the ActiveX control with a malformed argument. Successful exploitation could result in remote code execution on the target system once the malicious page is loaded. |
This protection will detect and block the malformed ActiveX Control.
