Vulnerability Description | CAPICOM Certificates (CAPICOM.dll) is an ActiveX control that provides a method for encrypting data based on secure underlying Windows CryptoAPI functionality.A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Cryptographic API Component Object Model (CAPICOM) Certificates.A remote attacker could exploit this issue by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML documents or open a malicious web page.Successful exploitation could result in remote code execution on the target system once the malicious page is loaded. |
This protection will detect and block CAPICOM ActiveX objects that contain malformed arguments.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
