Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The RSA Authentication Agent for Web for Internet Information Services (IIS) provides protection for selected web pages by securing them with the RSA SecurID authentication mechanism. When a user attempts to access a resource that is secured with the RSA SecurID, the RSA Agent authenticates the user before serving the requested resource. If the authentication is successful, the RSA Agent stores the information in a cookie in the user's browser. The user is granted access to protected web pages until the cookie expires. There exists a vulnerability in RSA Authentication Agent for Web for Internet Information Services (IIS). A crafted HTTP request can trigger a stack-based buffer overflow. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the target with System level privilege. In a successful attack, where an attacker injects code into the vulnerable target, the behaviour of the target host is dependent on the intention of the malicious code. Any code executed by the attacker runs with the privileges of the affected product, normally System. In an attack case where code injection was not successfull, the vulnerable application may terminate as a result of the attack attempt. The default Recovery setting of the service has been set to run iisreset.exe, thus, the service will usually be restarted. |
