Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Ipswitch Collaboration Suite bundles the Ipswitch IMail Server. The IMail Server contains implementations of POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP servers. The SMTP server is installed and started in a default installation. There exists a format String vulnerability in the SMTP module of Ipswitch Collaboration Suite. The flaw is caused by the improper validation of user supplied data in SMTP commands. An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to inject and execute arbitrary code with privileges of the SMTP service. In a successful attack aiming at denial-of-service, the affected SMTP sever might stop accepting connections, or drop connections right after they are established. In a successful attack aiming at injecting and executing supplied code, the behaviour of the system is dependent on the nature the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component would execute in the security context of the service process, normally System. If the code execution fails, the target server will not exhibit any abnormal behaviour in the target server. |
