Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) is a web browser application that is capable of rendering both static and dynamic web content. The application is primarily used for tasks related to browsing the web, such as displaying HTML encoded pages, downloading files, etc. There exists a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. The vulnerability is due to an input validation error in the local resource page "navcancl.htm" when generating the "Refresh the page" link in the Internet Explorer 7. Successful exploitation would allow the attacker to execute a cross-site scripting or phishing attack. The behaviour of the target is dependent on the intention of the injected script. The code may be crafted in order to manipulate the client side taking advantage of a potentially higher privilege level with which the web page is rendered. The code may also attempt to collect credentials of users or other private information by spoofing URL shown in the address bar. |
