Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | StarTeam is a revision control and SCM software system, originally produced by Starbase Corporation, and acquired by Borland in 2003. The system is backed by a relational database, that retains all changes made to a project during its evolution. Borland StarTeam can be installed as a component of other Borland products. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in Borland StarTeam Multicast Service. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error when processing HTTP requests. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted request to the target service to exploit this vulnerability. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the affected service will terminate abnormally. In a more sophisticated attack case where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the affected service, normally System. |
