Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description RealWin is a SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) server product developed by DATAC Group. SCADA is generally refers to an industrial control system, in which a computer system monitors and controls a industrial, infrastructure or facility based process. A SCADA System usually consists of a HMI (Human-Machine Interface), a supervisory system gathering data on the process and sending commands to the process, and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) connecting to sensors in the process, converting sensor signals to digital data and sending digital data to the supervisory system. There exists a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in DATAC Control RealWin SCADA System server product. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error while parsing a crafted value in a FC_INFOTAG/SET_CONTROL packet. Remote unauthenticated attackers could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious packet to the target server and can execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the affected service, normally Administrator privileges on Windows systems, or cause Denial of Service condition due to abnormal termination of the service. An attack targeting this vulnerability can result in the injection and execution of arbitrary code. If code execution is successful, the behaviour of the target will depend on the injected code. Any injected code will be executed with the privileges of the affected service, normally Administrator privileges on Windows systems. In the case of an unsuccessful code execution attack, the service will terminate abnormally due to memory corruption causing the Denial of Service condition.
