Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Application Server is a multi-platform solution for developing and deploying enterprise applications and web sites. The server ships with several additional components that extend its functionality. Oracle's Single Sign-On Server (SSO) was part of Oracle Application Server till version 10.1.2.0.2. A cross-site scripting vulnerability exists in Oracle Application Server Portal. The flaw is due to lack of validation of the user supplied input data. The flaw may be exploited by malicious users to execute arbitrary HTML code on target user's web browser, within the context of a trusted web site. An attack targeting this vulnerability can result in the injection and execution of script code. If code execution is successful, the behaviour of the target will depend on the intention of the attacker.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Application Server Portal Cross Site Scripting protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
