Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Microsoft Internet Explorer, a web browser developed and maintained by Microsoft Corporation, is the most widely used Internet browser. There is a vulnerability in the way Internet Explorer handles interaction between frames within a web page. It is possible for a malicious server to bypass restrictions that prevent keystroke events from passing between domains, and thus, allow for the logging of user keystrokes. It is possible for the attacker to steal information such as username/passwords, credit card information, and any other private information that the owner of the original site should not have.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Internet Explorer Cross Frame Scripting Restriction Bypass protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Client Enforcement Violation.
