Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | WhatsUp is a network management and monitoring application developed by Ipswitch Inc. It has a built-in web server to enable remote access to the application. A vulnerability exists in the way the web server component of Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold parses HTTP requests. A buffer overflow occurs due to insufficient input validation when creating a new notification record. An attacker exploiting this vulnerability can cause the service to crash or remotely execute arbitrary code. In a simple denial of service attack case, the vulnerable application will terminate as a result of a successful attack. In the case of a more sophisticated attack, the behavior of the target depends entirely on the injected code. |
