Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Database Server is an enterprise-level relational database application suite. To extend the functionality of the Oracle Database Server, extra packages are provided to the database user in order to better manage the data. One such package is the DBMS_Scheduler, which is a task scheduling engine. This package allows a user to specify a given task to be executed at specified times. The scheduled task, named a job, can be a block of PL/SQL statements, a stored procedure, or a host system command. There exists a vulnerability in the Oracle Database Server product. The vulnerability is caused by a flaw in the DBMS_Scheduler package bundled with database installation. An attacker with limited privileges may exploit this vulnerability to gain escalated privileges.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Database DBMS_Scheduler Privilege Escalation protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
