Vulnerability Description | MaxDB is an open source database application suite developed by MySQL AB available for various operating systems. The software bundles an HTTP server component, named Webtool, used to provide web-based application interfaces. Clients can connect to the Webtool with a web browser and access published applications. All communication between the client and server is performed over HTTP. There exists a vulnerability in MySQL MaxDB Webtool. The flaw is caused by an insufficient boundary validation when the Webtool processes crafted HTTP requests. This vulnerability can be exploited to execute arbitrary code on the target system. In case of an attack where code injection is not successful, the affected MaxDB WWW service will terminate, creating a denial of service condition. If the service is not configured to restart automatically, then the MaxDB WWW functionality will be unavailable until the service is restarted manually. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the system is dependent on the intended purpose of the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component would execute in the security context of the service process, normally System level. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
