Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The RSA Authentication Agent for Web for Internet Information Services (IIS) provides protection for selected web pages by securing them with the RSA SecurID authentication mechanism. When a user attempts to access a resource that is secured with the RSA SecurID, the RSA Agent authenticates the user before serving the requested resource. If the authentication is successful, the RSA Agent stores the information in a cookie in the user's browser. The user is granted access to protected web pages until the cookie expires. A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the RSA Authentication Agent for Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). The flaw is triggered when the vulnerable component parses crafted HTTP data. Successful exploitation can allow arbitrary code to be executed with System level privileges on the target system. In a case of an attack where code injection is not successful, the IIS server on which the vulnerable RSA Agent is running, will terminate. If the service is not configured to restart automatically, then its functionality will be unavailable until the server is restarted manually. In a case of an attack where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target is dependent on the inteneded purpose of the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component would execute in the security context of the IIS service process, normally System.
