Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Microsoft Internet Explorer is a popular web browser bundled with the Microsoft Windows operating system. The browser is capable of communication with HTTP and HTTPS compliant servers. The browser may also be set up to use a proxy for accessing remote resources. An information disclosure vulnerability exists in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The vulnerability can occur when Internet Explorer is configured to use an HTTPS proxy with Basic authentication. This flaw may be exploited by an attacker to read an HTTPS request URL sent by Internet Explorer despite the use of an encrypted connection. The vulnerable client application resubmits an HTTPS request initially made to a proxy server as an HTTP request as a response to an HTTP 407 message received from the proxy. The full URL of the HTTPS request is disclosed as a result.
