Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) is the most widely used web browser application. The browser is capable of processing HTML, images, scripting languages, and various other popular Internet specifications. A vulnerability has been reportedly introduced into certain versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer with the introduction of a security update. The vulnerability exists in the processing of compressed data used with the HTTP 1.1 protocol. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition or possibly inject and execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable host. In case of an attack where code injection is not successful, the affected browser may terminate or display a warning message. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the host system is dependent on the intented purpose of the injected code. It is likely that the vulnerable browser will stop functioning or terminate as a result. |
