Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description F-Secure Corporation is an established developer of many anti-virus and security-related products. Two of the products provided by F-Secure can be deployed in enterprise environments and managed through a web interface. The web interface allows an administrator access to a console, through which he or she can configure the numerous anti-virus and other security agents running on the server. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Web Console of multiple F-Secure products. The vulnerability is caused by an insufficient validation of the user-supplied data to the HTTP server hosting the console. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition, or to inject and execute arbitrary code. In case of an attack aimed at creating a denial of service condition, the target application will terminate immediately. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the system is dependent on the intended purpose of the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component would execute in the security context of the F-Secure Web Console service process, normally System.
