Vulnerability Description | Novell GroupWise Messenger is a corporate instant messaging solution targeted towards medium to large enterprise organizations. It facilitates secure communications and policy-based management through Novell's eDirectory product suite. The product is based on a client-server model where messaging clients connect to a central server to communicate after successful authentication is performed. An invalid pointer dereference flaw exists in the Novell GroupWise Messenger product. The flaw is due to an improper handling of crafted HTTP requests. A remote attacker may trigger this vulnerability to create a denial of service condition of the affected service. Upon processing of the malicious HTTP request, the affected service will terminate abnormally, dropping all existing connections and refusing further connections until restarted manually. |
