Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Lighttpd is an open source HTTP server project. Lighttpd focus on smaller memory footprint and higher runtime efficiency. The server supports an advanced feature set, including FastCGI. A variable overwriting vulnerability exists in Lighttpd FastCGI extension. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending an HTTP request containing crafted header data to the target server, potentially causing information disclosure or execution of malicious scripts in the security context of web server. An attack case where code execution is not successful, will result in information disclosure. In such a case the target host might not exhibit any behavioral difference. If code execution is successful, the behavior of the target will depend on the intention of the attacker. Any injected code will be executed within the security context of the FastCGI application. |
