Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) is the most widely used web browser application. The browser is capable of processing HTML, XML, images, scripting languages, and various other popular Internet specifications. Internet Explorer's support of scripting language that allows a web page to open new popup windows, download files, and perform other tasks. IE is a multi-threading application that allows concurrent tasks to be executed. A memory corruption vulnerability exists in certain versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer. The vulnerability is due to the way Internet Explorer handles certain error situations. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability by persuading target users to visit a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation would allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable client system, in the context of the logged in user. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the target will depend on the intended purpose of the injected code. Any injected code will be executed within the security context of the currently logged in user. |
