Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Adobe develop products for creating, distributing, and viewing Portable Document Format (PDF) documents. Adobe Reader is a viewer application that allows for reading and printing of PDF documents. Adobe Acrobat provides PDF authoring functionalities in addition to those by viewer. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in multiple Adobe products. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation in certain JavaScript methods. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the target user to open a maliciously constructed file, potentially causing arbitrary code to be injected and executed. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the affected Acrobat application that is parsing the malicious PDF document may terminate abnormally. In a more sophisticated attack where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the currently logged in user. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
