Vulnerability Description | CyberLink PowerDVD is a commercial video and audio player for Microsoft Windows and Linux. It enables viewing High-definition video and DVD-Video movies on the user's PC. The player can also be used to play videos and audio/music files in other formats encoded with different codecs, for instance WMV HD, DivX, Xvid, and DVD-Audio, MP3 and AAC audio. The software offers full Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD playback with menus. PowerDVD also handles playlist files such as M3U (.m3u) and PLS (.pls). There exists a stack overflow vulnerability in CyberLink PowerDVD product. The vulnerability is due to an inadequate boundary checks when loading playlist files. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to create a stack overflow condition on the target system. Successful exploitation could lead to denial-of-service conditions. Upon processing a malicious playlist file, the PowerDVD process will terminate due to a stack overflow condition, which triggers a Denial of Service condition. |
