Vulnerability Description | Apple iTunes is a multimedia player that supports a wide range of media formats. One of the file formats supported by Apple iTunes is the PLS file format. PLS is a computer file format that stores multimedia playlists. A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in Apple iTunes. The error is due to improper bounds checking when copying user supplied data into a buffer. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user to open a specially crafted .pls file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the user. An unsuccessful code execution attempt can lead to abnormal termination of the vulnerable program. |
