Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Windows kernel, the core of the operating system, contains a device driver win32k.sys. This device driver is an important component that controls window displays, receives keyboard and device input, offers functions for graphic output devices, and provides many other valuable services. The Win32k.sys device driver is used when Embedded OpenType (EOT) fonts are processed within Internet Explorer. An integer overflow vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows. The flaw is due to the way kernel-mode driver parses EOT font files. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to open a malicious EOT file. Successful exploitation could result in execution of arbitrary code within the security context of the Windows kernel. The behavior of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. An unsuccessful exploit attempt may trigger a Denial of Service condition. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
