Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description HP OpenView Storage Data Protector is a backup solution tailored for enterprise and distributed environments. The Data Protector environment consists of a Cell Manager, backup agents, and backup device servers. The Cell Manager is the central point from which backup agents and device servers are administered, and backup and restore operations are controlled. A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in HP OpenView Data Protector Application Recovery Manager. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error when processing requests sent to a certain process. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to a target server. In case of an attack where code injection is not successful, the vulnerable application would terminate abnormally causing a denial of service condition. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the target is dependent on the logic of the malicious code.
