Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description AgentX++ is a C++ object API written by Frank Fock. It is an implementation of the AgentX protocol which is used in multiple applications; including RealNetworks Helix Server and Helix Mobile Server. A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in multiple products that use the AgentX++ software. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending maximum payload length value in a packet to the target server. Successful exploitation could result in remote code execution on the target system and may cause the application to terminate abnormally due to memory corruption, resulting in a denial of service condition.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R81 / R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Multiple Vendors AgentX receive_agentx Integer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
