Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Secure Backup is a backup solution allowing for single point of management of data present on network attached storage (NAS) devices and distributed hosts. A command execution vulnerability exists in Oracle Secure Backup server. The vulnerability is due to an insufficient sanitizing when handling the 'selector' variable. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted HTTP request to the index.php on the target server. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands under the credentials of the System account.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Secure Backup Administration selector Variable Command Injection protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
