Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description MSXML is an application for processing Extensible Style-sheet Language Transformation in an XML file that allows programmers to create high-performance XML-based applications. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML). The vulnerability is due to a bug in the way MSXML handles HTTP responses. To trigger this issue, an attacker may create a malicious web page that will exploit this flaw. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow execution of arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Msxml2.XMLHTTP.3.0 Response Handling Memory Corruption (MS10-051) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
