Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | OpenType is a font format developed jointly by Microsoft and Adobe as an extension of Apple's TrueType font format. An OpenType font file contains data, in table format, that comprises either a TrueType or a PostScript outline font. An elevation of privilege vulnerability has been reported in the Windows OpenType Font (OTF) format driver. The vulnerability is due to a memory allocation error in the OpenType Font (OTF) format driver that fails to properly parse specially crafted OpenType fonts. A remote attacker may exploit this flaw via a specially crafted OTF file. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow the attacker to take complete control over an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed OTF files over HTTP.
