Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description RealWin is a SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) server product developed by RealFlex Technologies. SCADA is an industrial control system, in which a computer system monitors and controls an industrial, infrastructure or facility based process A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in RealFlex RealWin SCADA System. A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in RealFlex RealWin SCADA System. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error in RealFlex RealWin SCADA System while handling "SCPC_INITIALIZE" and "SCPC_INITIALIZE_RF" requests sent to the server. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability via a specially crafted packet Successful exploitation would cause a stack buffer overflow that could lead to a denial of service condition and may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.

This protection will detect and block specially crafted requests made to the vulnerable server

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the RealFlex RealWin SCADA SCPC_INITIALIZE Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
