Vulnerability Description | Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) is a container format for storing images, including photographs and line art. A remote code execution vulnerability has been discovered in the way that Microsoft Office parses specially crafted TIFF image files. The vulnerability is due to an error in Microsoft Office TIFF Image Converter that fails to properly validate data in TIFF image files. A remote attacker may trigger this issue by convincing a user to open a specially crafted TIFF image file. By persuading a user to open the malformed TIFF file, an attacker could take complete control of an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed TIFF files over HTTP.
