Vulnerability Description | OpenType is a font format developed jointly by Microsoft and Adobe as an extension of Apple's TrueType font format. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the way Microsoft Windows OpenType Font (OTF) format driver improperly parses specially crafted OpenType fonts. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability via a specially crafted OTF file. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. The vulnerability is caused when the OpenType Font (OTF) format driver does not properly parse the CMAP table when rendering a specially crafted OpenType font. A remote attacker may exploit this issue via a specially crafted OTF file. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow the attacker to take complete control of an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed OTF files over HTTP.
