Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Microsoft Windows Media Encoder is a production tool for converting both live and prerecorded audio and video to Windows Media Format. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the way that Microsoft Office handles the loading of DLL files. The vulnerability is caused when the Windows Media Encoder incorrectly restricts the path from which external libraries are loaded. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by convincing a user to open a legitimate .prx file that is located in the same network directory as a specially crafted dynamic link library (DLL) file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to run arbitrary code on an affected system.
