Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The Adobe Flash Player is a multimedia and application player that renders Shockwave Flash (SWF) files. The vulnerability is due to insufficient sanitization of the DefineButton2 tag by the Adobe Flash Player. A remote attacker might exploit this issue by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted SWF file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will crash the vulnerable application creating a denial of service condition on the target system.

Protection Overview

This protection detects and blocks the transferring of malformed SWF files over HTTP.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Adobe Flash Player BUTTONRECORD Loop Denial of Service (APSB10-26) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
