Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description IBM Lotus Domino Server is a software that provides mail, messaging, calendaring for multiple platforms. A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in IBM Lotus Domino server. The vulnerability is due an integer overflow that can occur when processing LDAP messages. A Remote attacker can exploit this issue via a specially crafted LDAP request sent to a vulnerable server. Successful exploitation may allow an attacker to create a denial of service condition or execute arbitrary code on an affected server.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block malformed LDAP requests sent to the vulnerable server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the IBM Lotus Domino LDAP Heap Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  LDAP Protection Violation.
