Vulnerability Description | Linux is a popular open-source operating system in which the kernel and other programs related to the operating systems are developed by a group of volunteers. The Linux network protocol stack provides support for Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) in addition to more popular transport protocols like TCP and UDP. A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in Linux kernel. The vulnerability is due to an error while handling Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) requests, which could cause an infinite loop. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending malicious packets to a target server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can exhaust the CPU and network resources creating a denial of service condition. |
