Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description MHTML (MIME Encapsulation of Aggregate HTML) is an Internet standard that defines the MIME structure that is used to wrap HTML content. An information disclosure vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Windows MHTML protocol. The vulnerability is due to the way MHTML interprets MIME-formatted requests for content blocks within a document. To trigger this flaw, an attacker can specially craft a malicious web page and entice a target user to access it. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to access sensitive information on behalf of the target user.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Internet Explorer MHTML Content Blocks Information Disclosure protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
