Vulnerability Description | Adobe Reader and Acrobat is a family of computer programs developed by Adobe Systems, designed to view, create, manipulate and manage files in Adobe's core technology, the Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF files can contain JPEG 2000 images that are displayed when the files are opened in Adobe Reader. A memory corruption vulnerability has been reported in Adobe Reader and Acrobat. The vulnerability is due to an error in the Adobe Reader when handling PDF files that contain embedded JPEG 2000 images. A remote attacker could trigger these flaws via a specially crafted PDF file. Successful exploitation will create a denial of service condition, causing the application to crash, and may allow execution of arbitrary code once a malicious PDF file is loaded on a vulnerable system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed PDF files over HTTP.
