Vulnerability Description | The SMB Protocol is a network file sharing protocol that is implemented in Microsoft Windows. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the way that the Microsoft Server Message Block (SMB) client validates specially crafted SMB responses. The vulnerability is due to an error in the SMB client implementation that improperly validates specially crafted SMB responses. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted SMB response to a client-initiated SMB request. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to take complete control of an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block specially crafted SMB responses.
