Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Visio. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation by Microsoft Visio when processing UMLString data in Visio files. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by enticing an unsuspecting user to download and open a malicious Visio file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may cause system memory corruption, which may allow execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system and may cause the application to terminate abnormally. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed Visio files over HTTP.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
