Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS). HIS is a gateway application that provides host access and integration, extending Microsoft Windows to other systems by integrating mission-critical host applications, data sources, messaging and security systems. Specifically, the issue exists in the application's snabase.exe component, an add-on of Microsoft's BizTalk Enterprise Service Business Suite. Microsoft BizTalk is an enterprise application for integration of applications, trading partners and processes. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may lead to a DoS condition, causing the server to become unresponsive.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Host Integration Server snabase.exe Denial of Service protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Application Servers Protection Violation.
Attack Information:  Microsoft Host Integration Server snabase.exe denial of service
