Vulnerability Details | The vulnerability is due to an improper registration and implementation of the Windows Object Packager in affected releases of Microsoft Windows. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by enticing a user to open an executable file with an embedded packaged object from a remote location such as an SMB or WebDAV. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code in the context of the current user. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to open files with embedded packaged objects.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Windows Object Packager Insecure Executable Launching (MS12-002) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings. 2. Install policy on all modules.
