Vulnerability Details | The vulnerability is due to improper handling of specially crafted media files by DirectShow filters. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to open a web page containing a specially crafted media file. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code in the context of the current user. |
IPS will detect and block attempts to open specially crafted media files.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Windows DirectShow Filters Remote Code Execution (MS12-004) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
2. Install policy on all modules.
