Who is Vulnerable? Symantec Web Gateway 5.0.x before 5.0.3
Vulnerability Description An arbitrary code execution vulnerability has been reported in the management GUI in Symantec Web Gateway.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to an error in the way the Symantec Web Gateway interface filters user input. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted file to the target. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to inject and execute arbitrary code on the target.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Symantec Web Gateway 5.0.2.8 Arbitrary PHP File Upload protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
