    Vulnerability Description A cross-site scripting vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft SharePoint.

    Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is caused due to an error in the way that SharePoint handles malicious JavaScript elements contained within a specially crafted URL. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by enticing a user to click a specially crafted URL which leads to a targeted SharePoint site. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to view user information that was not intended to be disclosed. An attacker may also leverage this vulnerability to issue SharePoint commands in the context of the authenticated user on the targeted SharePoint site.

    Protection Overview

    This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

    In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

    Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

    1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft SharePoint wizardlist.aspx Cross-Site Scripting (MS12-011) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
    2. Install policy on all modules.
