Who is Vulnerable? Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 29 and prior
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Oracle Java software updater.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of the source server from which the updater downloads files. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by either poisoning a user's DNS cache or intercepting the user's Java update session. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the security context of the target user.

IPS will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Java Software Update Remote Code Execution protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
