Vulnerability Description | A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the way that the Indeo Codec restricts the path used for loading external libraries. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by enticing a user to open a legitimate media file (such as an .avi file) that is located in the same network directory as a specially crafted dynamic link library (DLL) file. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malicious DLL files over a network share.
