Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A stack buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in Sophos Anti-Virus and Endpoint Protection. The vulnerability is due to an error when handling encrypted PDF files. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted PDF file to an affected user. The vulnerability is triggered when the Sophos Detection Engine scans the malformed PDF file. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the affected service. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of specially crafted PDF files to the target.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
This protection's log will contain the following information:
