Who is Vulnerable? Philippe Jounin TFTPD32 v4.00
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in Tftpd32.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to an error in the way the DNS component of Tftpd32 handles specially crafted domain labels. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted DNS query to a vulnerable Tftpd32 server. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target server, in the security context of the logged-on user.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block specially crafted DNS requests.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Tftpd32 DNS Server Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
